February 24, 1952 - April 5, 2021
David Thomas Squires, 69, of Milton, FL, passed away, Monday, April 5, 2021. David was a native of Oklahoma, born to Bill Squires and Marjorie Schafer Presson. He served as a CH-53 helicopter pilot in the United States Marine Corps for 12 years, then completed his flying career offshore with PHI, Inc. for 24 years until he entered disability retirement while battling cancer. He was a proud Eagle Scout and awarded a Korean Air Medal for his heroic rescue of 63 people during a typhoon. He was a lover of duct tape, Reece's Peanut Butter Easter eggs, the ocean and a bird's-eye view. Not only was he a devoted member of First Baptist Church of Milton for many years, but he was a committed follower of Christ. David's family is extremely thankful for the family, friends, and medical staff who have loved on, supported, and cared for him the last 12 years.
David is survived by his wife of 47 years, Vicky Lynn Squires, of Milton, FL; daughter, Cyndi (Jeremy) Thompson, of Greenville, SC; daughter, Jen (Ryan) Weed, of Fairhope, AL; daughter, Becca (Nathan) Hendrix, of Lebanon, TN; nine grandchildren, Noah, Grace, Ruth, Emma, Johnnie, Sarah, Corbin, Hannah, Lydia, and soon-to-be baby Chloe; and his two younger sisters, Debbie Albrand and Deanna Nesbit.
He has touched many lives and will be greatly missed.
A Celebration of Life service for David Squires will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 10, 2021, at First Baptist Church of Milton, officiated by Dr. David Spencer and Dr. Jonathan Russell, with Military Honors. Visitation to be held 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m., prior to the service. The family asks that masks be worn at the service, out of a deep love and respect for one another during this time. Inurnment in Barrancas National Cemetery will be held at a later date.
