A graveside service will be held at 3:00PM, Sunday, April 11, 2021 at Lakeland Memorial Park, 1901 Lancaster Ave. Monroe, NC 28112.
Joyce, "Deanie" grew up in Monroe, and graduated from Monroe High School. She married Charles Lee, and they had two children, Donna and Chuck. Early into her office career, she began work at Estul Tool in Matthews, and served as the Corporate Secretary of the company for over 40 years until her retirement at age 71. She was an exceptional cook, learning from her mother and mother-in-law the best recipes for comfort food, especially her homemade buttermilk biscuits. In addition to her home and work life, she enjoyed participating in the AKC dog show world as a Doberman Pincher enthusiast. Her champion dogs won ribbons and awards up and down the East Coast. Joyce, or "Mimi", as she was known to many after becoming a grandmother, loved to learn. She always had an ear to listen if you needed. It didn't matter your age, background or politics, she would listen and learn from anyone who had passion for a subject. She loved good food and conversation, and many an hour was spent with family and friends around a table eating desserts and visiting together. However, her greatest love was to hear the Word of God, especially preached by her Daddy, from the pulpits of the Primitive Baptist Church Association.
Joyce is survived by a daughter, Donna Lee Pressley (Charlie); siblings, Carolyn Smith (Mike) and Lanny Stack (Berita); four grandchildren, Takisha (Tommy), Renee (Jonathan), Paige, and Cole; 11 greatgrandchildren, Alexis, Alexandria, Michael, Kayla, Katherine, Cadyn, Julianna, Mila, Maddox, Charlotte, and Ella; nieces, Karen (Gordon), Carmen (George IV), Ivy, and nephew, Kelly.
