Rev. Grady Lee Barnett, 77, of Peoria departed this life into God's heavenly gates on April 2, 2021 at Aperion Care Morton Villa at 7:46 a.m. Rev. Grady was born on April 29, 1943 in Scotts, MS to Willie B. and Octivia Barnett, they precede him. Rev. Grady Barnett attended Nuggent Center in Scott, MS. In 1969 he moved to Peoria where he founded Gailee Missionary Baptist Church and Pastored for 30 years. He married Ladon Chillton on December 24, 1972, she survives. Rev. Grady loved to fish, work as a mechanic, sing, and mostly loved the "Word" of God.
He leaves to cherish his precious memory: his wife of 49 years Ladon Barnett; one son: Kenny Barnett - Jackson of Peoria; three daughters: Valerie of Washington D.C., Felicia Mattern of Branson, MO, and Amanda Barnett of Branson, MO; one brother: Joe Barnett of Peoria; Gracie Barnett (his twin), Vanillia Barnett both of St. Paul, MN, Octivia Barnett of Atlanta, GA, and Rosemary Thornton of Peoria; Special niece Deleores Ann (Thomas) Barnett Carter, and host of grandchildren, greatgrandchild, and numerous extended family members and friends whom will miss him dearly.
Rev. Grady was preceded in death by his loving parents, two sons, four brothers, and four sisters.
A Celebration of life Service will be held Friday, April 9, 2021 at Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church at 505 W. Nebraska Ave Peoria, IL 61604 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation commencing one-hour prior at 10:00 a.m. Pastor Charles E. Johnson Sr. will officiate.
Rev. Grady will be laid to rest at Parkview Cemetery.
