Dick proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1944 to 1946 during WWII. During his career he was a farmer, a Federal Deputy Game Warden, and a Conservation Officer for the State of Indiana. Dick's family was the original owner of Jonah Club and he enjoyed catering for local fish frys. He was a lifetime member of the NRA, V.F.W. # 1126, and American Legion Post #49. He was a regular attendee of the Pathway Church of Warsaw. Dick enjoyed his time in Wyoming on the ranch, hunting and fishing with his family and friends.
Dick is survived by a daughter Suzan Higgins of Warsaw, IN, a son David (Amy) Higgins of Winona Lake, 2 grandsons, Joshua (Kylie) Higgins, Warsaw, and Benjamin (fiancé Jessica Clark) Higgins, Denver, CO; sister, Betty Rauth; and his special friend that was like a son to him, John (Nancy) Sullivan. He was preceded in death by both parents, his wife, Mary Higgins, and brother, Tom Higgins.
