Theodora Noyes, 92, of 95 Oak Grove Ave., died Saturday, Dec. 12, 1999, at Vernon Green Nursing Home. She was born in Halifax on Aug. 7, 1907, one of 11 children of William Edward and Marion Lois (Ward) Wheeler, and she attended local schools there. Mrs. Noyes worked for O.O. Ware General Store in Wilmington for 23 years. Upon moving to Brattleboro, she worked as a bookkeeper for Dunham Brothers Shoes and Minshall Organ Co. Mrs. Noyes loved flowers and gardening. She enjoyed knitting, until her eyesight started to fail and loved spending time with her family. She married Leonard Noyes in Brattleboro on Nov. 11, 1974. Mr. Noyes died on Feb. 28, 1998. She is survived by two sons, Stuart Petersen (d.2017) of Brattleboro and Carl Petersen (d.2013) of Napier Field, Ala.; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Ward Wheeler, who died Feb. 20, 1951, Ralph Joseph Wheeler, who died June 12, 1984, Henry Wheeler, who died March 22, 1962, and her twin brother, Jesse Wheeler, who died March 30, 1974; and six sisters, Edith, who died Jan. 9, 1912, Ruth, who died Nov. 29, 1972, Mattie, who died July 14, 1965, Olive, who died Aug. 15, 1983, Ada, who died Feb. 20, 1920 and Eleanor, who died May.11, 1988. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Ker, Westerlund and Fleming Funeral Home, 57 High St., Brattleboro. Interment will fol-low in Williamsville Cemetery. There are no visiting hours.
