Norma Miller Lee, of Waynesboro, Virginia, passed peacefully on Tuesday, March 16, 2021 at Charlottesville Health and Rehabilitation Nursing Center.

She is survived by her children, Larry Miller, Tim Miller, and Lisa Miller (Steve); her granddaughters, Lela Clawson-Miller and Shanti Lulack (Alex); her sisters, Phyllis Smith (Orlen, deceased), Carolyn Riggleman (Marcel), Elizabeth Smith (Willie); her brother, Gerald Oates (Polly); and seventeen nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Lawrence Miller; her parents, Richard Oates and Pearl Oates; her brothers, Richard Oates and Joseph Oates; and her second husband, William Lee.

Norma Lee was born, Norma Beverly Oates, in Petersburg, West Virginia. She attended Bridgewater College where she met her first husband, Lawrence Miller. Norma worked at Waynesboro DuPont, Southern Department Store, and later managed the Recovery Room, a clothing shop that raised funds for the local hospital. Norma volunteered teaching Red Cross swimming, and teaching Sunday school at her church, Main Street United Methodist Church. Norma loved gardening and arranging flowers, and was a member of the Waynesboro Garden Club.

Most of all, Norma loved her family and her friends. Norma also loved animals, especially family pets, many of whom she had adopted from local shelters. Norma enjoyed going on walks, beach combing, camping with family and friends, live music, dancing, singing, poetry, playing bridge and traveling.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Augusta Regional SPCA in Staunton, Va. or Shenandoah Valley Animal Services in Lyndhurst, Va.
