David Tracey Chapman, 65, passed away on Friday, April 2, 2021. He was born July 15, 1955 in Humansville, Missouri to Carl and Evelyn Chapman of Collins, Missouri.

He was a life-long resident of the Osceola area, attending school at Osceola and graduating in 1973. David enjoyed playing sports and participating in the FFA program. He was proud to be the first student from Osceola to receive the American FFA Degree. From a young age, David thoroughly enjoyed all sorts of history and politics.

Dave farmed with his Dad, Carl and his brother, Tom all of his life, except for a short time in the 80's when he operated a side-boom on the pipelines. His work on the pipeline took him to Colorado, Oklahoma, Kansas, Utah and Wyoming.

He made many life-long friendships during his work on the pipeline. David was a friend to everyone he met and enjoyed life to its fullest. Traveling with friends, fishing, hunting, watching sports and attending music events was some of his favorite things.

His love for fishing began as a young boy with his Grandad. They spent countless hours together fishing at Caplinger Mills and every well-stocked pond between here and there! His fishing continued throughout his adult years with his nieces, nephews and many, many friends. Deer and turkey season were some of his favorite times. Although he loved hunting, his true excitement was in seeing the young people in his life on their first hunt or harvesting their own trophy buck. None of the wildlife was ever wasted with Dave because he was an exceptional cook and would always enjoy the time he spent preparing meals on the smoker with his buddies. Anyone that knew Dave well, knew to question the ingredients because he was known to spice things up a tad with his habanero and jalapeno peppers. He would just sit back and laugh as he watched the unsuspecting eat his specialties. No matter the occasion, whether it was watching the big game, hunting with family, or fishing with friends, Dave loved and lived each moment to its fullest.

David was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Evelyn Chapman. He is survived by his brother Tom and wife Connie of Osceola, Missouri; nephew, Kevin Chapman and wife Carrie, of Springfield, Missouri; niece, Kim Wheeler and husband Steve of Osceola, Missouri, several great nieces and nephews, plus one great-great nephew. In addition, Dave had an amazing group of friends who he considered family.
