EUNICE, LOUISIANA
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Roger Young announces his passing on Sunday, April 4, 2021 at Acadian Medical Center in Eunice at the age of 97. A Celebration of Life will be celebrated at (Time Pending) on Friday , April 9, 2021 at First Baptist Church in Eunice.
Burial will follow in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery with Pastor Brent Shoalmire officiating.
Roger dedicated his life to education for many years, many of which were served as the first principal of Glendale Elementary until his retirement. He was also a substantial member of the St. Landry School Board for over thirty years and was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Eunice where he served as a Sunday School teacher until his death. He enjoyed cooking, raising farm animals and learning new music, but most of all he loved spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Nettie (Aucoin) Young of Eunice; his two sons, Roger Blake Young and wife, Mindy of Atlanta, GA and their children, Noah and Emma Young, and Ward Young of Fort Lauderdale, FL; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Noah and Effie (Smith) Young and his six siblings.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoin's Funeral Home of Eunice on Thursday, April 8th from 4:00pm until 8:00 pm. Visitation will resume at First Baptist Church in Eunice on Friday, April 9th from 9:00 am until time of services.
