She was born August 27, 1969 in Winchester, the daughter of Richard and Bonnie Hutton Swartz.
She was married to Richard B. Ritter. They were together for 23 years.
Karen was a member of the Emmanuel United Methodist Church.
In addition to her husband and parents, she is survived by her sister, Jennifer Swartz of Fayetteville, NC, and an aunt, Betty Sisler and her husband Kenneth.
Her grandparents, William Swartz, Gladys Willis, Kenneth and Alice Hutton are deceased.
A funeral will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday in the Emmanuel United Methodist Church 2732 Martinsburg Pike, Stephenson with Pastors Barry Burkholder and Jim Smith officiating.
Entombment will follow the service in Shenandoah Memorial Park.
Casket bearers will be Kenneth Sisler, Sam Fleshman, Jimmy Smith, Seth Libby, Josiah Libby, and Quinten Kuhn.
Friends will be received Tuesday from 7-9:00 p.m. in Phelps Funeral Chapel.
