WARREN — Tom Stewart Crawford, 73, formerly of Niles, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2020, in Warren.

He was born Sept. 19, 1947, in Warren, the son of the late Tom MacTavish Crawford and Mary Samuels Crawford.

Tom grew up in Niles and later attended Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. After graduation, he packed his car and moved to New York City, where he learned the ins and outs of the city working as a taxi driver before finding a job as an accountant. While living in Manhattan, he married Carmela Racanelli in 1980. While in New York, he developed his passions for sailing, skiing and collecting antiques. The pair moved to Scarsdale, N.Y. and were joined by their only child in 1991. He returned to Warren in 2017 and spent his retirement surrounded by his best friends and beloved pet, Wildcat.

Tom was always the life of the party and his intelligence, wit and humor will be missed by those who were close to him.

He is survived by his daughter, Mary MacTavish; and his brothers, Mark, Jeffrey and Richard.

The family suggests donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, where a tribute has been set up in Tom's name.
