On January 2, 1934, he was born in Thomasville, NC, to the late Jess B Murphy and Emeline Owen Murphy. Bill was a graduate of Thomasville High School and UNC-Chapel Hill with degrees in Business and Music. He was President of Commercial Carving Company in Thomasville for over forty years. He was a well-respected leader by his employees and colleagues in the furniture manufacturing industry.
Bill will be remembered for his great sense of humor, love of a good ribeye steak, NASCAR Sundays and spending quality time with his family. He was a loving husband, father, Pawpaw and friend; he will be greatly missed.
Bill was predeceased by his wife of 66 years, Sandra Rothrock Murphy. He is survived by his son, Scott Murphy and wife Jerri of Thomasville, NC; daughters, Tammy and Melody Murphy, both of High Point, NC; grandson, Brian Murphy and wife Stephanie of Frisco, TX; great-grandchildren, Alexander and Sophia both of Frisco, Texas.
