Eva Victoria Hickman King, 85, of Bladenboro passed away on Friday, April 2, 2021. She was preceded in death by her parents, Waitus and Artie Hickman; husband, William Swaim King; infant son, William Swaim King, Jr.; four sisters: Mary Lee Simmons, Josephine Carlyle, Virginia Sawyer, Doris Sherill; two brothers: Wade Hickman and Roger Hickman. Eva leaves behind two sons: Tony King and wife Regina of Lebanon, Tennessee, Mark King and wife Pam of Shannon; daughter, Erin Hinson of Bladenboro; two brothers: Freddie Hickman and wife Betty of Bladenboro, Waitus Hickman of Wilmington; sister, Carol Davis and husband Carsie of Bladenboro; four grandchildren: Allen King, Courtney Masters (Luke), Sean Davis, Savana King; three great-grandchildren: Alana King, Addison King, and Evan King.
Eva was a devoted wife, loving mother and doting grandmother (MaMa). Her family was the center of her universe and she enjoyed telling anyone that would listen about the recent accomplishments of her children and grandchildren. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church Bladenboro and served as a Sunday School teacher and choir member. She could always be found cooking for her family and hosting socials and "get togethers" for her friends. She adored gardening, flowers, beach trips, her animals and all types of music. For the last nine years, she battled many challenges, but was loving cared for at Wesley Pines Nursing Home. Four months ago, she was able to leave the nursing home to live with her daughter. Again, with the help of Lower Cape Fear Hospice, she was loving cared for and surrounded by people that loved her most. On Good Friday morning, in the presence of her children, she was called home and peacefully ushered into heaven by the angels while quiet hymns were being played on the guitar. She will forever be in our heart and missed by all.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, April 5th at 11am at the First Baptist Church in Bladenboro with Rev. Charles Hester officiating. Burial will follow in the Hickory Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Bladenboro. All attendees are asked to wear a mask and practice social distancing.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Lower Cape Fear LifeCare 206 Warrior Trail Whiteville, NC 28472 or First Baptist Church of Bladenboro.
