She was a member of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church and formerly owned and operated G&L Produce for many years. Gracie worked in the restaurant business over 40 years, and currently owned and operated Uncle Herbie's Café for over 20 years. Gracie was a people person and enjoyed doing for others. For many years she would dress up as Santa, and deliver goodies to others, sharing the Christmas Spirit. She would also dress in a clown costume and with her grandson, Steven, and entertain to bring smiles and laughter to others. She always thought of others first and was always ready to help if needed. She was passionate about her family and friends, Christmas, and collecting Coca-Cola memorabilia.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Lionel Benoit, her second husband, Don Wilson, one son, Stacy, one brother, Robert "Bob" Beal (Doris), three sisters; Myrtle Opal Beal Pettet, Mary Whitecotton Martin, and an infant, Charlotte Rose Osborn, and one great grandson.
She is survived by two daughters; Gracie Briddick (Chuck) of Rosedale, Sherri Russell (Jeff) of Clinton, two sons; Lionel "Leo" Benoit Jr. (Virginia) of Cardiff, CA, and John Wilson (Caleigh) of Morris, IL, one sister, Gladys Louise "Pinky" Hayes of Rosedale, 16 grandchildren, 20 great and great great grandchildren, and many loyal customers and friends that she considered her extended family.
Services for Gracie will be Friday, April 9, 2021 in Greiner Funeral Home, 2005 North 13th Street, Terre Haute, Indiana, 47804, at 1 pm. Visitation will be from 11 am until service time on Friday. Burial will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Gracie's heart never wanted anyone to go hungry, so it is the desire of her family that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in her memory to a local food pantry. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
