Actor. He was best known to television viewers as orphan kid Cpl. Rusty on the ABC series "The Adventures of Rin Tin Tin" from 1954 to 1959. After being spotted on a local television program by director Fred Zinnemann, he cast as the title character in the 1952 documentary short "Benjy." He went on to make his "big screen" debut in that year's film "The Greatest Show on Earth." His later film credits would include "High Noon," (1952) "Hondo," (1953) "Destry," (1954) "The Challenge of Rin Tin Tin," (1958) and "Bye Bye Birdie." (1963) He also made his television debut in 1952 on the television series "Your Jeweler's Showcase." Besides "The Adventures of Rin Tin Tin," he appeared in such series as "The Ford Television Theatre," "The Loretta Young Show," "The Donna Reed Show," "Route 66," "The Magical World of Disney," and "The Lucy Show." He left Hollywood at the age of 20 and later worked as both a carpenter and ski instructor for people with disabilities and underprivileged children. He passed away after suffering a stroke.
