Bishop Charles C. Hines Jr., 59, of Peoria, IL., passed away on Wednesday, March 31, 2021 at home. Th eldest of four children, he was born in Peoria on October 5, 1961 to Charles and Albertine (Robison) Hines Sr.
Bishop Hines married Andreana "Deena"(Beeks) on September 29, 2017 in Las Vegas, NV. She survives. Other survivors include his father, Charles Hines Sr. of Peoria; two sons, Charles Christopher (Alexandra) Hines III of Boston, MA., and Joseph Aaron Hines (fiancée Terah Montague) of Dallas, TX; two grandchildren, Kamille and Charles IV; three siblings, Derryl Hines of Peoria, Sharon (Larry) Taylor of Nashville, TN., and Steve Hines of Peoria; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and other extended family. He was a beloved step-father.
He was preceded in death by his mother and one brother, John Gibbs.
In July 2001, Bishop Hines was elected as the National Presiding Bishop of the Church of the Living God, (LBLC), and was the youngest bishop serving on the executive board. He was the current pastor at Church of the Living God Temple #5 LBLC and was the executive Bishop of the brotherhood.
Bishop Hines was educated in the Peoria Public School District, and was baptized at the age of 5 and received his calling to minister at the age of 10. He has been preaching over 45 years.
Bishop Charles Hines enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1983 where he served for a total of ten years. During his tenure he served in Operation Desert Storm/Desert Shield. While serving his country he still found the time to advance his education. He obtained associate degrees in math, science, chemistry, and printing technology, and graduated Suma Cum Laude. After he left the military, he went on to receive a Bachelor's of Science degree in Industrial Engineering from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, IL.
Bishop Hines also received a masters and doctorate degree in theology from Andersonville Bible College in Camilla, Georgia, where he maintained a GPA of 4.0 throughout his studies. Bishop Hines has five degrees. He has also received numerous awards and certificates including Distinguished Graduate and Best Speakers Award from the United States Air Force (USAF) NCO Academy, vice president of the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society, and USAF Honor Guard Member of the Year just to name a few.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 9, 2021 at Victory Christian Church, 603 W. Nebraska Ave, Peoria, IL 61604 with visitation being held an hour prior to services at the church. Pastor Johnny McKinney will officiate. Burial with military honors will follow at Parkview Cemetery in Peoria.
