John Forest Gammon of Lucas, TX was born on August 21, 1940 to Bedford and Ethel Gammon and passed away surrounded by his family on March 3, 2021. He grew up in Bonham, Texas and graduated from Bonham High School in 1958.

John, W5VYY, spent 68 years making friends through amateur radio. He joined the US Army and was stationed in Orleans, France where he operated the F7HC transmitter site. After serving in the US Army, he worked at International Crystal in Oklahoma City where he met the love of his life, Donna Patterson. They married in 1964 and moved to Plano, Texas in 1967 where John began a long 35-year career at Texas Instruments. John is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Donna, his two children, daughter Diane married to Eric Green, son Johnny married to Lorrie Merryman and his five grandchildren, Elizabeth Green, Sarah Green, William Green, Catherine Green and Gary Gammon.
