Henry Green Bratton was the third of the nine children born to Elijah Patton Bratton and Lucinda Elizabeth Fields. His father fought with the Texas Rangers against the Indians and for the Confederacy during the Civil War. The family is found on the 1880 Grayson County TX census. Henry was left an orphan at age 17 when both parents die within nine months of each other.
Henry age 21 and Eliza "Lee" age 19 were married on August 26, 1886 in Elm Grove, Collin County, Texas. They would have met at Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Elm Grove, where both their families were early members. All four of their parents are buried in that cemetery.
Henry and Lee lived in Texas and Oklahoma.
To this union eight children were born: Linder, Ethel, Beulah, Freddie, Lake, Leva, Dixie, and Addie.(Sherry #47010546)
The family moved to Drumright, Oklahoma, where Henry operated a cafe. Henry died in 1925* and Eliza "broke up housekeeping" and lived the rest of her life with her children. She died in 1949 and they are both buried in the Shamrock Cemetery outside of Drumright.
* Henry's newspaper obit reads that he was the first to die of the nine children in his family, but actually his oldest brother Thomas J had already passed. His brother Calvin and family eventually settle in Drumright as well and is also buried in Shamrock Cemetery.
