Phyllis Irene Cummings, 81, of Roscoe passed away peacefully Tuesday, March 30, 2021, in Rockford. Born June 19, 1939, in Beloit, WI, the daughter of Harley R. and Lillian J. (Johnson) Bender. Graduated from Hononegah High School, Class of 1957. She married the love of her life and best friend, David W. Cummings on September 17, 1960, and they had three children. Early in their marriage, she completed her Registered Professional Nurse course at Swedish American Hospital. Phyllis worked in various school, office and hospital nursing settings, finishing her career with the Winnebago County Health Department where she worked in Health Education and headed the Parents Again group. She also participated in many flu clinics over the years, even when retired. Phyllis enjoyed spending time with her Hononegah alumni. Member of the County Line, Guilford Hope Grange, and a big fan of the Boone County Fair. She was a longtime member of Willow Creek Presbyterian Church of Argyle where she served as elder and deacon. Longtime member of the Skiffer's group at church. Phyllis loved her family more than words can say and happily looked after her grandkids as they were growing up. She loved going to her kids and grandkids sporting events. Phyllis enjoyed camping, fishing, and kayaking out at Rock Cut with friends. She spent winters in Florida for over a decade with her daughter. Most importantly she will be remembered for her bubbly personality and being our family's "Energizer Bunny". She would have liked to remind everyone to be especially accepting and forgiving to those suffering memory loss, as she had in her later years. Survivors include her son, Jeff (Debbie) Cummings; daughters, Jackie (Rod) Turbot, and Jodie (Garry) Larson; her beloved dog, Tillie; grandchildren, Matt (Randi) Cummings, Roger (fiancé, Tia Walls) Cummings, Travis (Katie) Larson, Alysha Cummings, and Skyler Cummings; great-grandchildren, Jillianne Cummings, Isabelle Cummings, Tailynn Cummings, Dylan Kotsch, Kendyll Cummings, and Tatum Cummings; many loving nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents; husband; and sister, Patricia. A special thank you for the care she received from Swedish American Heart Hospital.

Graveside service at noon Saturday, April 3, 2021, in Argyle Scottish Cemetery, 8761 Picken Road, Caledonia.
