Lake Havasu City, Arizona -
David Hanson was surrounded by his family and loved ones when he
passed away on March 8, 2021 at the age of 59.
David was a proud member of the U.S. Army. He served 16 years and
retired as a staff sergeant. During his active service, he was a
military police officer stationed in Berlin and witnessed the fall of
the Berlin Wall. He re-enlisted as an infantryman and spent time at
Fort Ord, California, as an instructor. His last tour was at Fort
Leonard Wood, Missouri. There he served as a drill instructor until
his retirement.
David met his wife, Coral, at Fort Leonard Wood where they married on
July 9, 1993. David is survived by his wife, Coral, son, Mathew, and
daughter, Sheree. Dave and his family moved to Lake Havasu City in
1997.
David worked at the BLM office in Lake Havasu City where he enjoyed
talking to locals and snowbirds alike. He loved rock hounding, metal
detecting, meteorite hunting and off-roading. He enjoyed sharing his
knowledge of the desert area and wildlife.
David was preceded in death by his favorite pets: Murphy, Misty and
Mongo. He will be followed shortly by the Kat – aka – Midnight
Screamer.
A celebration of life will be held at his home on his birthday, June
16, 2021 beginning at 10 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking people to email a "Dave
