OBITUARY
Mr. Uriah Alfred Venables aged 69 years an old resident of the district died at his residence Garden Street, Laura on Wednesday morning. He had been in ill-health for several weeks. The deceased leaves a widow and a family of four sons Messrs. Uriah (Laura), Victor (Iron Knob) Jack Maynard (Laura) and two daughters Misses Gertrude and Ethel (Laura). One son Private Richard Venables enlisted from Laura and was killed while on service abroad. The funeral took place on Thursday at the Laura Cemetery, the Rev. J. L. Asser conducting the service at the graveside.
