Sue was educated in the local schools and graduated from Turners Falls High in Mass. in 1950. Sue went on to earn her Associates Degree in Nursing. She worked as a Licensed Nursing Assistant at Catholic Medical Center for 10 years and later as a registered nurse at Maple Leaf Healthcare for over 12 years until her retirement. In the late 60's, Sue worked at Doc's White House in Manchester to earn some extra pocket money to take her kids on fun outings. Sue was very involved with her children and volunteered as a Cub Scout den mother and corps mother for the Muchachos Drum & Bugle Corps.
In her retirement she enjoyed gardening, beading, quilting, crocheting and donating her time to the local VNA singing group "Hearts in Harmony" as well as being a member of St. Francis Choir in Litchfield. She moved to Pittsfield in the last year and enjoyed the fellowship and community of Park Street Baptist Church. Sue lived for her family, her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were her world and she will be greatly missed.
Besides her parents, Sue was predeceased by her husband of 65 years, Manuel "Manny" Phillips on April 4, 2020; sisters, Maxine Saltmarsh, Gwendolyn Little, Helen Healy and brothers, John Rittall and Chetley Rittall.
She is survived by her children; her sister, grandchildren.
