CLARK BUTLER SHELLEY was born May 5, 1938 in Joseph City, Arizona, the son of the late George Shelley and Margaret Cleo (Butler) Shelley. He was raised and educated in the Joseph City and Holbrook communities, graduating from Holbrook High School Class of 1956. He served one enlistment in the United States Army, having served as a paratrooper in Germany, until he received his honorable discharge.
While in Germany, Clark met Gerlinde Ingrid Hotz. They married and became the parents of 4 daughters. This marriage ended in divorce. Clark was united in marriage to Donna E. Neal on December 13, 1983 in Mesa, Arizona. They celebrated their 37th Wedding Anniversary this past December. Following their marriage, they made their home in the communities of Joseph City, Arizona; Flagstaff, Arizona and Albany, Oregon, until 2016, when they moved to Oregon, settling in the Forest Grove community, where they have resided since.
He had worked as a freight conductor for the Santa Fe Railroad for forty-five years, until he retired. Clarke was a member of the David Hill Ward, of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Forest Grove.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Margaret Shelley and his nine brothers and sisters.
Survivors include his wife, Donna Shelley, of Forest Grove, Oregon; his five daughters and sons-in-law, Yvonne and Daniel Hughes, of Las Vegas, Nevada; Angela Shelley, of Seeshaupft, Germany; Susan Shelley and Melanie Shelley, of Nashville, Tennessee and Rachel and Russell Armstrong, of Riverdale, Utah; his stepson and spouse, David and Renita Heyen, of Forest Grove, Oregon and his two stepdaughters and a spouse, Joan and Steven LaJoie, of Enumclaw, Washington and Alison Heyen, of Cornelius, Oregon. Also surviving are his 16 grandchildren; his 8 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
