On March 30, 1904, the family was blessed with a daughter, Louisa Albertine Zimmerman. Sadly, less than 7 months later, Albertine died from typhoid fever. 28-month old Ernest, remained in the care of his widowed father. The infant Louisa's care was entrusted to Albertine's sister, Lena Ullman Hartshorn and her husband Joseph who raised Louisa as their daughter.
On September 3, 1905, Edward married Mollie Grub. One son, Regis Lee Zimmerman was born to that marriage on March 2, 1910.
On October 15, 1924, Ernest married Phyllis Clark Page. They had one child, a son, Richard Edward Zimmerman, born December 25, 1927. Phyllis and Ernest's marriage ended (date unknown).
Ernest married Beulah Louise Brunson on February 21, 1931. Three children were born to Ernest and Beulah, Ernest Eugene "Gene" Zimmerman, on August 14, 1933, Carole Sue Zimmerman, November 6, 1936, and Ruth Ann Zimmerman, January 16, 1939. That marriage also ended.
Prior to 1969, Ernest married the twice widowed Mabel Lenore Taylor Baird Bowmaster. They resided in Athens, Ohio, and both spent their final days at Angel of Mercy West Nursing Home in Albany, Athens County, Ohio where Mabel preceded Ernest in death.
