William "Bill" Hines, the son of Richard and Anna (Martin) Hines, was born on September 7, 1922, on a farm in Bruning, Nebraska. He passed away on December 24, 2006, at Algient Health Hospital in Missouri Valley Iowa, at the age of 84 years, 3 months and 17 days.
Bill was one of three children born to his parents.
Bill attended elementary school in Alexandria, Nebraska and graduated high school at Minden, Nebraska.
Bill was an active farmer and rancher in Thayer County all his lifetime.
He was united in marriage to Irene Bedlan and later to Jennie Mae Gilbert West in 1964 in Bellevue, Nebraska.
This union was blessed with a son, Dennis.
Bill and his family enjoyed many family trips up until the death of his wife, Jennie on January 26, 1996.
Late in life he moved to Missouri Valley, Iowa, to be closer to his son, Dennis and his younger grandchildren.
Bill was able to be included in taking the youngest grandchild, Jenna to her first day at preschool and attend many class parties with both grandchildren, Jenna and Adrianna. He was also able to attend school concerts and take grandchildren to rodeos and other special events. Bill also made many new friends at the Missouri Valley Senior Center and was active there until his health started to fail. He also spent many wonderful evenings at his son's home discussing the current events of the day.
Bill was a lifetime member of the Catholic Church and a
member of the Civil Air Patrol in 1940.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jennie; two brothers, Richard and Edward Hines. He is survived by his son, Dennis Hines and wife, Janine of Missouri Valley, Iowa; step-daughter, Linda Hume and husband Duane, and step-son, Max West, all of Bruning, Nebraska; seven grandchildren: Brian Hume, Brad West, Renee Hume, Anjannette Kindelspire, Sara Fumas, Adrianna Hines and Jenna Hines; 7 great-grandchildren many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, December 28, 2006
at 1:00 P.M. at Price Funeral Home Chapel in Hebron, Nebraska, with Rev. Eldon & Mary Beth Nicholson officiating. Music was the recording of "I Want To Stroll Over Heaven with you" by Alan Jackson.
Pallbearers were Charles Koch, Brian Hume, Brad West, Forrest Brown, Lou Hines and Clark Kindelspire.
Interment was in the Bruning Public Cemetery at Bruning, Nebraska.
Memorials have been established to the family's choice.
