EDWARDS - LaVerle E. Mabeus, 67, of Edwards died at 3:37 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 15, 2000, at his residence.

Born Feb. 9, 1933, in Randolph, Neb., to Paul A. and Nellie Bass Mabeus, he married Geneal Partridge in 1957. He later married Bonnie Picl Cahill in 1989 in Peoria. She survives.

Also surviving are his mother of Monroe, Wash.; two sons, Rodney (and Beth) of Soldotna, Alaska, and Dave (and Chris) of Eagle River, Alaska; two stepsons, Phil (and Charlene) Cahill of Brimfield and Roger (and Kim) Cahill of Edwards; one stepdaughter, Pamela (and John) Morris of Chillicothe; one brother, Willis (and Elane) of Seattle; eight grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; one great-grandson; one stepgreatgrandson; and two nieces.

He was preceded in death by his father; one son, Eddie; one daughter, Charlene Ryan; one brother; and one sister.

A Korean War Navy veteran, he was a member of the USS Deuel Association APA 160 and the American Legion.

He was a telecommunications engineer for Atlantic Richfield.

He was a member of Temple Masonic Lodge 46, AF&AM; Scottish Rite Bodies, Valley of Peoria; and Mohammed Temple, Shrine, in Peoria.

He also was a member of Galesburg Elks Lodge 894, Peoria Amateur Radio Club 16.76, National Rifle Association, and the Lincolnland Coachman and Holiday Rambler Camping Clubs.

A memorial service will be at 4 p.m. Thursday at WoolseyWilton Funeral Home, where Masonic services will be immediately following services. Elder Clive Ashton, Rodney Mabeus and Dave Mabeus will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before services at the funeral home. Cremation has been accorded.

Memorials may be made to Methodist Hospice in Peoria.
