Charles Joseph James Jr. (Charlie) age 70 of Cherokee passed away Thursday, March 25, 2021.
He was born February 15, 1951 in Deland, Florida to Joe James and Virginia R. James.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Anthony Hanak and
stepbrother, Steve Hanak.
He is survived by his wife Juliet Bitancur James, his son Charles Joseph James III (Trey), his daughter Melissa Ann Eager (Kevin) and stepsons Brandon David Franks (Shannon) and William Bitancur; 6 grandchildren, Alexis, Trevor, Jessi, Dusti, Austin and Shane and 1 great grandchild. He is also survived by his sister Julie James Craddock (Bruce) of Port Orange, FL; brother Nelson Hanak of Franklin, step brother, Robert Hanak (Sandra) of Melborne, FL and step sister Rose Robinson (Dick) of Ohio and a number of nieces and nephews.
Charlie proudly served his country with 7 years in the Army serving in Germany and Viet Nam. He lived many years in Franklin, NC and worked at CR Industries. After leaving Franklin he began work at Con Met in Bryson City, NC where he retired after 19 years of service.
Charlie enjoyed spending time with the love of his life Julia and their pet Yuki and taking long drives together.
A memorial service will be held Thursday April 15th at 2:00 pm at Crisp Funeral Home.
