Charles Linson Chapman, age 85 of Jasper, passed away Friday. March 26, 2021 at his home. He served in the US Army. In 1976 he was elected Magistrate Judge in Pickens County and served until 1992. Charles served as a deacon at the First Baptist Church in Jasper. He also was a funeral director for 60 years. He and his parents, J. G. and Florence Rabun Chapman operated Chapman Funeral Home in Jasper until 2001. He served as deputy coroner in Pickens County for many years. He was also a devoted and active member Lions Club for over 65 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, J. G. and Florence Rabun Chapman and his brother, Oscar Rabun Chapman.

He is survived by his wife of almost 63 years, Peggie Chapman of Jasper, daughter and son in law, Leslie and Mark Miller of Jasper, and son, Clint Chapman of Jasper, several cousins, nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral Services will be held Sunday, March 28, 2021 at First Baptist Church of Jasper at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Preston Jones and Reverend Greg Pope. Interment will follow in the Jasper City Cemetery.

The family will be receiving friends on Saturday, March 27, 2021 at Roper Funeral Home and Crematory from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.

The family ask in lieu of flowers that memorial contributions be made to either the Jasper First Baptist Church or the Jasper Lions Club.

Those serving as pallbearers will be Blake Gooch, Chuck Payne, Ken Austin, Moss Fountain, Danny Ryder, Glenn Rasco, Vince Evans, Ray Ferrell, Paul Lindsey, and Gary Burgess. Members of the Lions Club will serve as honorary pallbearers.
