Roy was a member of First United Methodist Church. He dedicated a lifetime of public service to the Agriculture community, serving on boards of the Stone County Farm Bureau as a member and past President, Stone County Soil Conservation Board of Directors as a member and past President, Director of North Arkansas Farm Supply Co-Op Board, and member and past President of Stone County Fair Association Board of Directors. In addition, Roy served at the District and State level on numerous agriculture boards and committees such as the Arkansas Beef Council and Arkansas Farm Bureau Federation.
Roy is survived by his wife of 33 years, Pat Cole Hayden; a daughter, Katherine Emerson and son-in-law Tom Emerson of Fayetteville, Arkansas; a granddaughter, Lindsey Emerson Rains, and husband, Wilson Raines of Little Rock, Arkansas, and numerous nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Mary Hale (Jack) Hinkle of Mountain View and Ann (Pat) Powers of Westchester, Pennsylvania; a brother, Nick (Naomi) Hayden of Little Rock, Arkansas.
Roy will be interred in a private family graveside service at Mount Olive Cemetery due to the COVID pandemic. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, Tennessee, 38105, or charity of choice.
