York - Brenda Lee Nelson was born July 4, 1950 to the late Robert T. and Grace I. Rascoe. She was previously married to Johnson T. Nelson and from that loving union was blessed with 3 children: Stephen C. Nelson, Danielle L. Nelson, and LiAnna T. Johnson. Brenda had seven granddaughters and one grandson, and 17 great grandchildren.

In addition to her children, Brenda will be missed by her siblings Sharon Rascoe-Corley and Gregory A. Rascoe (Maria); a sister-in-law Bonita Rascoe; a multitude of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Brenda exemplified dignity, grace and humility and prided herself as being an example as the true meaning of family for us all.

Brenda graduated from York City Schools and over the years continued to advance in her studies gaining a Sociology Studies degree with the MH/MR department. She retired in 2010 after 20 years of dutiful service.

Brenda embraced life and everyone around her. She greeted everyone with an amazing smile and warm sense of authenticity. You were immediately considered a part of her family and were treated as such. No one was ever turned away from her home.

Brenda was sick for a long time. She kept on smiling, loving, laughing, praying, and living life until the very end. On Friday March 19, 2021, Brenda succumbed to her long, hard fought battle with her earthly body. She peacefully entered an eternal rest and was called home to glory surrounded by her loving family.

A viewing will be on Tuesday, March 30, 2021 from 9-10:30AM and a Celebration of Life will follow at 11AM at Bethlehem Baptist Church, 474 S. Pershing Ave., York 17401. The Celebration of Life is limited to family. Burial will take place at Mt. Rose Cemetery, York.
