He was born Aug. 7, 1941, in Wilmington, son of the late Thomas Jefferson Crawford and the late Grace Catherine (Rule) Crawford. Tom proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy, retiring after 22 years as a chief petty officer. Following his retirement, he worked for several years for Red Ball Marine Boatyard in Lewes.
Pop enjoyed collecting model trains as well as going to auctions and yard sales. He also spent countless hours fartin' around in his garage. Tom's passion was for his family and his animals as he was so proud to see his grandchildren grow up and start their own families.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife and best friend, Frances Crawford, in 2012; and his son, Thomas C. Crawford in 2007. Pop is survived by his two daughters, Cathy Crawford of Lewes and Vickie Vaughan and her husband Robert of Millsboro; four grandchildren, Amy Baker and her husband Hal, Angela Vaughan and her companion David Smith, Robyn Vaughan and her companion Lonce Silva, and Tommy Crawford. He is also survived by his three great-grandchildren, Johney Baker, Brodie Baker and Rowan Silva.
A viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m, Tuesday, March 30, at the Long Neck Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 32013 Long Neck Road, Millsboro, where a funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Interment will be held privately at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
