Joe graduated from Michigan State University and served in the United States Army in Frankfort, Germany. Joe worked for the Dow Chemical Company for 35 years holding a variety of management roles within Business Information Systems. Early in his career he taught evening college courses at Delta Community College in Data Processing. He was engaged in community activities through participation on the Community Fund and coaching little league baseball for many years.
Joe was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. His favorite pastime was spending time with his family. He cherished his annual vacations to Treasure Island, family cruises and tailgating with family at college football games. He enjoyed the holidays when all family came together, especially during fourth of July at Wixom Lake and all the Christmas festivities with his large family.
Joe and Shirley were a team and did everything together. They loved traveling, dinner with friends and most of all sharing life together. They enjoyed their many visits to Las Vegas and membership at the Midland Country Club playing golf and having fun with friends.
Joe was preceded in death by his mother and father, Ursula and Eugene Roberts; brothers, Jim, Mike and Richard Roberts; sisters, Colleen Bukowski and Pat Christansen; mother and father-in law, Ralph and Lillian Brown; brothers in-law, Ron Brown, Kenneth Place, Dean Miller, and Don Christansen.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 31, 2021 at the Blessed Sacrament Church with Father Rob Howe officiating. Visitation will be at the church from 10:00 a.m. until time of the service. Interment will take place at the New Calvary Cemetery.
