Peggy Nell Smallman Carter, age 74, of Morristown, went to be with her Lord and Savior Friday, March 26, 2021. She was a lifelong member of Alpha Baptist Church and recently attended Lebanon Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dewless "Pod" and Clara "Billie" Smallman; brothers Jarvis and Carroll Smallman; and sister Phyllis Dalton.
She is survived by her faithful and loving husband of over 55 years, Larry Carter, of Morristown, who devoted his life to taking care of her in sickness and in health. She is also survived by her daughter Natalie Raun Carter and special son-in-law Scott Dietsche of Knoxville, and her son Larry Carter II and daughter-in-law Jan Carter of Townsend. Grandchildren include Luke Dietsche of Knoxville, Andrew Carter and Lauren (John) Rose of Townsend; Torin Dietsche, Kieran Dietsche, Logan Dietsche, and Kylie Dietsche of Minneapolis, MN; and great grandchildren Carter Rose and Hudson Rose of Townsend. She is survived by her sisters Nancy Vesser of Morristown and Barbara Ely of Sevierville.

She was a 1965 graduate of Morristown High School, and on December 18, 1965 she married the love of her life whom she loved more than anything. A cancer survivor, she enjoyed cooking and quilting and took the most delight in spending time with her family. Over the last several years as other ailments increased, her greatest joys were her faith in Jesus and the precious time she spent with her youngest grandbabies.
A small private service will be held on Sunday, March 28, 2021 and a private interment will be held at Jefferson Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Lebanon Baptist Church in Talbott.
