Gloria V. Gonzalez

Gloria V. Gonzalez passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 21, 2021 in San Antonio, Texas. She was born on July 20, 1925 to Eliza Peredo and Roberto Vega in Laredo, Texas.

Gloria enjoyed her time in retail starting when she was 12 years old at her father's store, Vega's Curios in Nuevo Laredo. A favorite memory of hers was the day Eleanor Roosevelt visited Vega's. In later years she worked at Frost Bros. and Brittingham Jewelry in Laredo and lastly at her personally owned Vega's Jewelry at Artisan's Alley and at Los Patios in San Antonio. Gloria was an accomplished artist.

She loved the beach and enjoyed their condo in Port Aransas with her family. Gloria appreciated finely tailored clothes and loved looking her best at all times. Her children and grandchildren, and great grandchildren who knew her as 'Lela', loved her dearly and will remember her fondly.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 49 years, Edgardo A. Gonzalez Jr.; son, Roberto Kim Gonzalez; sisters, Delia Vega and Eva Vega de Tijerina; brothers, Eloy Vega, Roberto Vega and Rodolfo Vega.

Gloria is survived by her sons, Edgardo A. Gonzalez III (Melissa) and Justo Penn Gonzalez (Dee Dee Guzman); daughter, Ariadne Roxanne Gonzalez; brother, Jorge Vega (Estela); sister, Rolia Vega Freeman; grandchildren Kelly Poorter (Dabney), Alyssa Littlefield Alhaj (Kenny), Roberto Gonzalez, James Gonzalez, Justen Gonzalez, Nicholas Gonzalez, Jena Littlefield, and Jeremy Littlefield; and great grandchildren, Emma and Madelyn Poorter and Avery Alhaj.

The family would like to thank her many dear friends from The Towers who gave her so much joy and companionship. The family also appreciates the kindness of her caregivers, Bimpie Mutait, Irma Ortiz, Beverly Iglehart, Hope Haar and Sylvia Carrasco.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, April 2, 2021 at Porter Loring Mortuary North.
