BARABOO, Wis.- Carl Gottlieb Rohde, 77, of Baraboo, Wis. and Sarasota, Fla. during the winter, died Wednesday, Jan. 18, 1995 at his home in Florida. Funeral services will be Monday, Jan. 23 at St. John Lutheran Church, Baraboo, Wis. The Rev. Myron Schwanke will officiate. Burial will be in Walnut Hill Cemetery, Baraboo, Wis. Mr. Rohde was born July 8, 1917 in the township of Dellona, Wis. in Sauk County. He married Pearl Hinz on Dec. 17, 1938, Mae Woelffer on July 11, 1951 and later Lucille (Schutz) Schmidt on Oct. 28, 1986. He was employed as a butcher, managed the Rock Springs (Abelman) Farmer's Co-Op, farmed in the Baraboo area, worked in the quarry, was the first motorcycle officer in World War II, bought a hardware store in Lake Mills, Wis., which he operated for a number of years, then drove for Badger Buses in Madison, Wis. He also operated Rohde's Auto Service, had a Texaco Bulk route in Green Lake, Wis., moved to Fox Lake, was employed by the Green Giant Farm Shop in Beaver Dam, retired in 1980, and was a groundskeeper for the Dell View golf Course in Lake Delton. Survivors include his wife, Lucille (Schutz Schmidt) Rohde of Sarasota, Fla.; four children, Barbara (John) Bednarek of Princeton, Wis., William (Kathryn) Rohde of Ripon, Wis.; Janice (Charles) Trasher, of Wautoma, Wis., and Don (Bea) Rohde of Batavia, Ill.; 14 grandchildren 13 greatgrandchildren; four step-children, Charles (Ellie) Woelffer, Jerry (Jean) Woelffer, Nancy (Dean) Malloy, and Mary Rochester; one step-daughter-in-law; step-grandchildren; step-greatgrandchildren; mother-in-law, Ella Hinz; one sister-in-law, Adeline Thomas; one brother-in-law, Edward (Janice) Hinz; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Pearl, on March 26, 1951; his second wife, Mae, on Oct. 1, 1985; his parents; his father-in-law; two brothers, Elmer and Lyle Rohde; two grandsons; a granddaughter; a step-son; and a step-grandson. Friends may call on Sunday, Jan. 22, from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Redling Funeral Home, Baraboo, Wis., and on Monday, Jan. 23, from 10 a.m. until the hour of service at St. John Lutheran Church, Baraboo, Wis.
