Duke was the son of A. and Jane Cantrell. He married Eliza Rogers 1-25-1863 In Jefferson County Mo. Their children were:Alfred Eli,Armenta J, Eliza Ann, John Dickson and Samuel Ford. In June of 1921 he was living with his son Sam in Pocahontas, Arkansas and was shot in the leg in a feud over some neighbors pigs roaming wild on farm land that Sam was caretaking. He never recovered from those wounds and died 3 months later
