Obituary for Mrs. Annie M. Martin
Annie M. Martin, 84, of Columbus, passed from this life on Thursday, March 25, 2021 at 8:15 a.m. at her residence. Annie was born on January 12, 1937 in Brickley, Arkansas the daughter of Elijah and Mary J. Roland Wilks. On December 26, 1977 she married Brandys N. Martin, he preceded her in death on March 17, 2016.
She was a homemaker and also a child caregiver for several years. Annie was saved at Grace Apostolic Church in Indianapolis; she had been a member of Calvary Community Church and currently attended Bethlehem Apostolic Church. Church was very important to Mrs. Martin and she loved going to church, attending church conventions, being an usher, and also an altar worker. She also enjoyed traveling, sewing, and was an avid shopper. Mrs. Martin was also known for her hospitality, her beautiful hats that she loved to wear, and her love of life. One of her greatest joys was spending time with her family. In 2019, she received the Leadership Woman's Award for Woman of the Year, presented by Cabrina's Safe Haven for Kidz.
Survivors include her children, Joann Bullitt of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Albert (LaDonna) Martin of Columbus, Barbara (Steven) Rhodes of Indianapolis, Danny (Tessa) Green of Franklin, Sherri (Louis) Martin Crider of Columbus, Terri L. Roddie of Franklin, and Debbie (Dennis) Daulton of Columbus; 15 grandchildren; several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; siblings, Barbara J. (Charles) Madison of Franklin and Jodie (Alma) Wilks of Lafayette; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; son, Terry Martin; siblings, Mildred, Margaret, Annie Doris, Bernice, Lucille, Mary, Robert, Andrew, Elijah III, and Willie Melvin.
Funeral services will be at 11:00a.m. on Saturday at Calvary Community Church with Bishop Charles A. Sims and District Elder Charles Madison officiating.
Family and friends may call for visitation from 10:00a.m. till time of services on Saturday at the church. We do ask that visitors follow the social distancing guidelines once inside the church and masks are required.
