Jack Dale Anderson of Traverse City passed away Wednesday, March 24, 2021 at the age of 92, at the Munson Hospice House. Jack was born in Traverse City, Michigan to the late Daryl and Emma (Lichty) Anderson and raised in the area.
He married Marjorie Kathryn (Newcombe) Anderson in Traverse City, MI and together they raised their family.
Jack and Marge spent many years downstate, before returning to Traverse City to live. Jack served in the US Navy. Jack was a Master Plumber and Pipefitter in Southeastern Michigan and a 70-year member of Locals 98 and 190. He retired from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. Jack enjoyed fishing, playing cards, camping, winter trips to Florida, many family gatherings, and time with friends. Jack was a member of the Traverse Bay United Methodist Church. He was a proud participant in the Traverse City Central High School Class of '46 luncheons. Jack enjoyed participating in the Cherry Land Jazz Organization. Jack was known as a 'fix it' guy, always with a project in process and readily available to help out with any hand-on work.
Jack is preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Marjorie, his parents, granddaughter Jennifer Kern, brothers Bud, Jim, Bill and Ken, sisters Shirley and Ruth; sisters-in-law Judy, Karon and Virginia, and brothers-in-laws Duane and Fred.
Surviving Jack are his children, Debra (Mark) Kosowski, Linda (Edward) Kern, Connie (Steven) Holland, Kathryn (James) Kosniewski, Jeffrey (Susan) Anderson; his nephews Thomas (Cindy) Reichhardt, John (Carol) Reichhardt; grandchildren, Kara Kosowski, Kristin Newton (Kosowski), Janice Brown (Kern), Jason Kern, Jessica Holland, Kathryn Thurston (Holland), Lisa Jakupovic (Kosniewski), Matthew Kosniewski, Jarard Anderson, Stephan Anderson; great grandchildren, Molly, Spencer, Grace, Faith, Jaxxon, Caden, Luke, Ethan and Medina and many other family members and friends.
He is also survived by his brothers, Lawrence (Margaret) Anderson, of Traverse City, and Junior (Sue) Anderson, of Acme; and sisters, Arlene (Richard) Hall, Lucille Conley and Margaret Deveneau, all of Elk Rapids and Caryl (Wayne) Stites, of Williamsburg.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, March 25, 2021, from 4-8 pm at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home. A private family memorial service will be held on Friday, March 26, 2021.
