Laura Lavonne, daughter of Finley and Dorothy (Lewis) Shinn, was born September 29, 1929, in Omaha, Nebraska. Her early years were spent at Woodbine, Iowa, and she graduated from Storm Lake High School in 1947. In 1953, Lavonne graduated from the Division of Home Economics at Iowa State College in Ames.
On December 31, 1952, Lavonne was united in marriage with Dick Clark in Las Cruces, NM. Three sons were born to this union. Upon Dick's return from the service, the couple farmed near Botna. From 1968 to 1992, Lavonne worked for the Iowa Department of Human Services. She thoroughly enjoyed working with the handicapped.
Lavonne was a member of the United Church of Manilla, Jefferson Community Club, American Association of University Women and the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed birds, flowers, collecting recipes, playing piano, visiting relatives, and antiques, especially the Antiques Roadshow. Lavonne's most enjoyable times were spent at the Family Farm Event Center when family and friends could gather.
Lavonne was preceded in death by her parents; husband Dick Clark; a sister Marilyn (Otto) Jahn and two brothers-in-law Lynn Clark and Jon Duvall.
Lavonne passed away Thursday, March 25, 2021 at Manning Senior Living at the age of 91 years, 5 months and 25 days.
She is survived by her sons: Dick Clark and wife Angel of Creston; Dan Clark of Manilla; and Joe Clark and wife Nancy of LaCrosse, WI; grandchildren: Sean Clark and wife Robin; Sonny Clark and wife Angel; Haley Clark and fiancé Ethan Behrens; Brianna Clark and fiancé Magdaleno Thomas; and Kendra Clark; great-grandchildren Madison, Noah, Summer and Mason; step great-grandchildren Jackson and Rylie; a sister Marge Zahrobsky and husband, Don of Fort Dodge; a brother Dick Shinn and wife, Debbie of Erie, CO; and two sisters-in-law Sue Ann Duvall of Des Moines and Laveda Clark of West Monroe, LA.
