Eleanor was born on January 2, 1923 in Fowler, Ohio to Jacob Allen & Ida Frances (Grogg) Hefner. She graduated from Fowler High School in 1940 and married Harry D. Wilson in October 1942. Together the couple had five children and were married for 42 years. Eleanor was a meticulous homemaker and hard-working stay-at-home mother. After raising her family, she moved to Nevada, her home for the next 30 years. In her 50s, she was hired by the housekeeping department at Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center where she worked until her retirement in 1995.
She was a past President of the Ladies Auxiliary VFW Bailey-Barto Post 7614 in Johnston, Ohio. Eleanor enjoyed letter writing and corresponding with family members and many friends. Grandchildren delighted in her regular packages filled with trinkets, stickers, books, mittens, and sundry personal care items.
Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Gail Hefner, Dwight Hefner; sisters Dessa Doud, Margie Whipkey, Frances Stoddard, Ruth Oates, and Helen Lewis Stamm; former husband Harry D. Wilson, daughter Judy Dean, son-in-laws Larry Popowich and Don Hicks.
In addition to brother-in-law Carl Wilson of Cortland, Ohio, Eleanor is survived by four children: Carol Deiber (Ron) of Alta, Iowa; David Wilson (Mary Anketell) of Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania; Connie Wilson of Cortland, Ohio; Bob Wilson (Holly) of Papillion, Nebraska; 13 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, and seven great-great grandchildren.
