MRS. SUSAN EWING DIES.

Mrs. Susan Ewing
died this morning at 5:30 o'clock at her home at 1017 East Ninth street. Apoplexy was the cause of death. She was born in North Carolina, December 2, 1826, and removed to Kansas in 1862. She lived in Fort Scott until 1872 when she moved to Joplin. Mrs. Ewing had lived in Galena for about 35 years.

She is survived by one son, J. P. [sic: G. P. for Gabriel Parley] Coley, of Jennings, Okla., and the following grandchildren: Mrs. June [Elizabeth] Kibler of Galena; Mrs. Chester Chickering, Mrs. Thos. Dixon and Mrs. Virgil Board, of Joplin; Mrs. A. H Stinnel [sic: Steinel] and Mrs. Fred Larmour, of Battle Creek, Mich.; Misses Winnie and Nona Coley, of Jennings, Okla.; Mrs. Stanton Green, of Fresno, Calif.; Rosco, Raymond, Alfred and Rodney Bellar [sic: Beller], Roy and John Moore, of Joplin; and one son in-law, William Bellar [sic: Beller], of Joplin.

The funeral services will be at 3 o'clock tomorrow afternoon and burial will be in the Galena cemetery.

Note: Susan's 1900 census from Galena, Kansas, reported that she had given birth to 9 children, 2 of them living. At the time, that would have been her son, Gabriel Parley Coley, and her daughter, Margaret Coley Beller. Her date of birth in that census record was given as December 1833.

SUCCUMBS AFTER ILLNESS
OF APOPLEXY.

Mrs. Susan Ewing
, 87 years old, died at 5:30 (sic) o'clock yesterday morning at her home, 1017 East Ninth street, after an illness of several months. Death was due to apoplexy.

Mrs. Ewing was born in North Carolina December 2, 1826, and came to Kansas in 1862. She has been a resident of Galena 35 years. She is survived by one son, J. (sic) P. Coley, of Jennings, Okla., and the following grandchildren: Mrs. June [Elizabeth] Kibler of Galena, Mrs. Chester Chickering (sic), Mrs. Thomas Dixon and Mrs. Virgil Board of Joplin, Mrs. A. H. Stinnel (sic)and Mrs. Fred Larman (sic) of Battle Creek, Mich., Misses Winnie and Nona Coley of Jennings, Okla., Mrs. Stanton Green of Fresno, Cal., Roscoe Raymond, Alfred and Rodney Bellar, Ray and John Moore of Joplin and one son-in-law, William Bellar, of Joplin.

The funeral will be held this afternoon at 3 o'clock at the residence and interment will be made in the Galena cemetery.

Mrs. Susan Ewing
died at her home No. 1017 East Ninth street, at 6:30 (sic) o'clock yesterday morning. Mrs. Ewing had been ill several years. Apoplexy and other ailments caused her death.

She was born in North Carolina, December 2, 1926, and moved to Kansas in 1862. She lived at Fort Scott until 1872, when she moved to Joplin. In 1877 she moved to Galena and had resided there since.

Funeral services will be held at 3 o'clock this afternoon. The Seventh Day Adventists will have charge of the services.

Mrs. Ewing is survived by one son, G. (sic) P. Coley of Jennings, Okla., and the following grandchildren: Mrs. June [Elizabeth] Kibler of Galena, Mrs. Chester Chickerine (sic), Mrs. Thomas Dixon and Mrs. Virgil Board of Joplin, Mrs. A. H. Stillwell (sic) and Mrs. Fred Larmour (sic) of Battle Creek, Mich., Misses Winona (sic) and Nora (sic) Coley of Jennings, Okla, Mrs. Stranton Green of Fresno, Cal., Rosco Raymond, Rhodney (sic) and Alfred Bellar of Joplin, William Bellar, a son-in-law, resides at Joplin.
