BLUNK—At the home of her parents in East Galena, Friday, Feb. 8th, 1895, at 1:35 p.m., Clara Belle Blunk, aged 29 years and 5 months.
Miss Blunk was born in Story county, Iowa, and when but a mere child removed to Galena, the family being among the first settlers in this locality.
Her education was received here, except eleven months spent at the State Normal in Emporia. Since September she has been teaching at Hickory Grove, or Williams schoolhouse, one and one-half miles south of this city, where she has made many warm friends and endeared herself to the little ones under her care.
From her childhood she has been a constant attendant at Sunday school and nine years ago she became a member of the Methodist church and she has ever since been a consistent christian member.
For several years Miss Blunk has been a sufferer from Bright's disease, and on Monday she took a severe cold which aggravated the disease, and on Wednesday she realized that the end was near. She talked with various members of the family, expressing her readiness and willingness to go.
Besides her parents a sister and brother are left to mourn, as well as scores of friends.
Little can be said to lighten the sorrow of such parting, but let us remember that "He doeth all things well" and what now to our eyes seems so dark may not be all darkness after awhile.
The funeral services were held at the M. E. church Monday at 3:30 p.m.
