United States Navy Chaplain. A Protestant Episcopal minister, he was appointed as a Chaplain in the United States Navy on April 23, 1841. He served until his death in 1846. St the time of his death he was serving as Chaplain of the Pensacola Navy Yard.

His son, Charles Henry Alden, became a Medical Officer in the United States Army, and rose to the rank of Brigadier General.
