Jesse Louis Craft, 84, a long-time resident of Hurley, MS, passed away on March 24, 2021, in Mobile, AL.
Jesse was born in Summit, MS, on October 27, 1936, to the late Jerry Kenna Craft, Sr., and Flora Simmons Craft.
Jesse was a man of many talents. He was known for being able to fix almost anything, so after he retired from Chevron, he spent much of his time working in his small engine repair shop or at the Hurley Feed Store helping his friend, Wayne. When he wasn't working in his shop or at the store, Jesse could be found working in his large vegetable garden or watching a televised Braves game. He relished visits from his grandsons, with whom he could "talk baseball" for hours. But during the offseason, Jesse loved watching old westerns, especially John Wayne movies and Gunsmoke. Many of us doubted that there was a classic western movie or show that he had not seen.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Dewitt Craft and Jerry Craft, Jr.
Those left to cherish his memories include his wife of sixty-one years, Pat; children, Glenn (Suzanne) Craft of Hurley, MS, and Chris (Tracie) Craft of Vancleave, MS; grandchildren, Matthew (Viktoria) Craft of Sumrall, MS, Jordan (Charity) Craft of Jefferson, GA, Ryan (Meg) Craft of Vicksburg, MS, and Austin Craft of Oxford, MS; great-grandchildren, Riley Ann Craft of Vicksburg, MS, Lydia Rose Craft of Jefferson, GA, and Elizabeth Flora Craft of Sumrall, MS; and sisters, Ann (the late Clarence) Wilkinson of Wade, MS, and Elizabeth (the late Parley) Reed of Biloxi, MS.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Matthew Craft, Jordan Craft, Ryan Craft, and Austin Craft, along with his nephews, Steve Wilkinson and Bill Delk. Honorary pallbearers will be Wayne Adams and Shelton Freeman.
A visitation for Jesse will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 27, 2021, at Heritage Funeral Home in Moss Point, MS. The funeral service will follow in the funeral home chapel beginning at 12:00 p.m. with his great-nephew, Rev. Michael Wilkinson officiating. Interment will be held at Serene Memorial Gardens in Moss Point, MS.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Baptist Children's Village, 114 Marketridge Drive, Ridgeland, MS 39157, in Jesse's memory.
Heritage Funeral Home, locally owned and operated in Moss Point/ Escatawpa, MS, is honored to serve the family of Mr. Jesse Louis Craft.
