Melissa was born November 23, 1969 in Fort Worth, Texas to Robert and Sherry Hemminger Brown. Melissa grew up in Fort Worth and graduated from Southwest High School 1987. After high school, she began working for Orkin Pest Control as an office manager. She left Orkin to work at Myer's Pest Control as an office manager for 8 years and then she returned to Orkin for a total of 17 years.
Melissa married Walter Dawson in 1993 in Fort Worth and they were happily married for 27 years. She enjoyed reading her Stephen King novels and watching all things sci-fi and fantasy.
Melissa was preceded in death by Robert H. Brown, Bud and Roxie Hemminger, and Wiley H. and Mary Brown.
Melissa is survived by her husband, Walter Dawson; daughters, Lindsay Alderson and husband, John Alderson and Holly Dawson; mother, Sherry Hemminger Brown; siblings, Rebecca Brown Bonnette and husband, Daniel Bonnette and Sam Brown and wife, Mary Ayer; uncles, Roy Hemminger and wife, Barbra and Clyde Hemminger and wife, Ann-Marie; loving grandson, John David Alderson; nieces and nephews, Madison Bonnette Franco, Tyler Bonnette, Corrigan Bonnette, Rosie Bonnette, Teagan Brown and Peyton Brown; wonderful friends, Denise and Donald Traffanstead and their loving kids Stephen and Tina; brothers and sisters-in-law, Henry and Karen Cox, Charles Dawson; and many other nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Community Hospice and all the wonderful nurses and staff, as well as the doctors at UT Southwest and Harris in Downtown Fort Worth who were very helpful through Melissa's journey and when she joined Heaven.
