Joseph A. Yates was born in Metz Twp. Michigan on May 3rd 1944. He served honorably in the Navy as a Flight Engineer, with tours to Cambodia as well as Vietnam. He was a jack of all trades. Some of his hobbies included tending to his flower gardens, which includes 42 Rose bushes as well as wood working.
He took great pride in his yard and spent many hours making it look beautiful. He was a tried and true Boise State Fan to the Corp! He loved spending time with his cats at home and with the Love of his Life Linda Lang, they have a Love that will last Forever! Side by side for 25 years, there wasn't a day that went by where Linda wasn't his first, last and only priority. In the early days he found himself getting into mischief with his brother James. Enjoying their family cabins on Long Lake was one of their many cherished childhood memories. They would enjoy fishing, catching fireflies and all of the things young boys will do. Later in life he loved the days and nights spent sitting outside with his neighbors and reminiscing about the good old days. Often times you would find him bragging about his three children whom were his Proudest Accomplishments.
He is survived by, Wife- Linda, His three Children, DeEtte, Tony and Russell (Maria). Stepchildren, Michael (Patti) and John. Brother, James (Kathleen). Sisters, Elaine and Shirley. Three Grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceeded in death by Father Clyde Yates, Mother Helen Streaseck and Baby Brother Mark. There will be a Memorial Service including Military Honors at the Idaho State Veteran Cemetary to be announced at a later date followed by a Celebration of life. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be sent in Joes Honor to (DAV) Disabled American Veterans or the Tunnel to Towers
