Bob was born February 15, 1936 in Manchester, CT to the late Hector and Catherine Provost.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Lorraine P. Provost, just two months ago, and a son, Edward Provost.
Bob is survived by five children, Joanne P. Coggins (Richard), Bob Provost, Jr. (Heathe), Thomas Provost (Karen), Mary Beth Provost, and Allyson Lewis Popper (Jeff). Bob and Lorrie cherished their grandchildren: Laura C. Niemeier (Thomas), David Coggins (Kendall), Emily Coggins, Jennifer Coggins, Aimee Coggins, Peter Provost (Megan), Clare Provost, Bernadette Provost, Joseph Provost, Paul Provost, Francis Provost, Mary Teresa Provost, Sasha Lewis, Devlyn Lewis, Jackson Popper and Payton Popper. Bob and Lorrie were also thrilled to welcome great-grandchildren Everley Niemeier, Wyatt Coggins, Paxton Coggins, Fitz Coggins, Sunnie Coggins, Rosemary Provost and Judah Provost.
Bob was happiest when surrounded by his whole family together, which happened frequently for holidays and annual beach vacations. Besides his wife and extended family, Bob also loved the game of golf.
Bob's first career was in the textile business which took him from NYC to the south and traveling to Europe. He and Lorrie fell in love with the south and decided to stay in Greenville to start their own business, Sportsclub, which began as the first indoor tennis facility in South Carolina and grew to three multi-sport and exercise facilities in the Greenville area. Bob loved meeting and talking to people. He and Lorrie saw their many friends and their business as an extension of their own family. They were known for their welcoming hospitality.
One of the highlights of Bob's life was a trip to the Holy Land, which increased his devotion to daily Mass.
Committal at Graceland East Memorial Park.
