Not much is known about Joseph's family. From the 1930 U.S. Fed. Census, we learned his Father was born in Germany & Mother in France. Not sure if he was born in Oklahoma, as the 1930 Census & his Death Certificate stated OR Indiana as the 1940 Fed. Census list & which his son agrees. His last surviving son states he was married before and that his wife and 4 children (names unknown)all died about the same time, reason unknown. Probably an accident of disease. One daughter, Christine did survive.

He and Josephine Virginia Hamilton were married prior to 1919 and from that union, they had a total of 17 children, 10 of whom survived. They were very much loved and the family referred to Joseph as "Big Daddy".

It is also unknown if the parents listed here are truly his parents. There is a difference of opinion and the family does not know. These names are on a Fed. Census as parents of a Joseph Alexander. But is this the same as ours? Therefore I am leaving these names until I have definite information.

Joseph and Josephine 10 children that did survive are:
Alma Virginia Alexander Elkins 1919-1969
Joseph Whylie Alexander 1921-1990
George William Alexander Sr. 1922-1976
Clarence Franklin Alexander Sr. 1924-1951
Aulson Ileana Alexander 1926-1998
Alva Audrey Alexander 1929-?
Bunyon Francis Alexander 1931-2006
Alfred Gordon Alexander 1933-2001
Meredith Alexander 1936
Barbara June Alexander 1937-2006
