Jimmy Howell Dyer, age 72, passed away Thursday, November 26, 1998 in a local hospital. Mr. Dyer was born October 6, 1926 in Polk County. He was a retired supervisor with Diamond Shamrock Co. and a member of Kresge Memorial United Methodist Church. He was an Army veteran. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ruth Thompson Dyer and Andrew Jackson Dyer; two brothers, Gordon and Frank Dyer; sister Lucille Ball; and grandson, Brian Kelley Timms. Survivors include his wife, Cleo S. Dyer; two daughters, Shelia D. Timms and Becky D. Maxwell; a son, Richard Alan Dyer; two sisters, Virginia Pope and Gaynell Hulsey; four grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Saturday, November 28, from the Kresge Memorial United Methodist Church with the Rev. Steve Arnold officiating. Interment followed in Friendship Baptist Cemetery. Pallbearers included Kevin Timms, Keith Parker, Jeff Johnson, Richard Adams, James "Nut" Camp, Gary Chadwick and Michael Chadwick. Gammage Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
