Thomas Morrison McVey was born on May 10, 1925 and died peacefully on March 19, 2021. Tom and his beloved wife Barbara were active members of the Painesville and Lake County communities and were married for nearly 70 years. They spent much of the last 20 years at their home in Surprise, AZ. Tom was born in Youngstown, Ohio and was a graduate of Boardman High School. He then enlisted in the Navy where he served in the South Pacific during World War II. Following his military service, Tom enrolled at the Ohio State University where he graduated in 1949 and became a lifelong Buckeye fan. After starting his career with the Cities Service Oil Co, Tom formed the McVey Oil Company which served many residents in the Lake County area. He was active with the Exchange Club for many years, and an avid golfer and bridge player. Tom is survived by his loving children Phyllis (Rick Wolverton), Tom (Shawn), Rick (Lara) and Brett, as well as his sister Suzanne Hepp and his grandchildren Spencer Wolverton, Taylor McVey, Lane McVey Goggin (Connor), and Grace McVey and his great grandson Bode Goggin. Tom's wife and soulmate Barbara predeceased him in April 2020 and by the grace of God, they are back together again.
