'The funeral of Mrs. Clarence Ashford, 21, of Hooks, the former Nell Marie Jordan of Powderly, killed in a shell explosion at Lone Star Army Ammunition plant at Texarkana Wednesday night, will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Leverett and Steele Funeral Home. Relatives are receiving friends there between 7:30 and 9 p.m. Friday. Burial will be made in Long Cemetery.'
THE PARIS NEWS, Sunday, Feb. 19, 1967 p. I-7. 'Services for Mrs. Lawrence Ashford, 21, of Hooks, the former Nell Marie Jordan of Powderly, killed in the Texarkana Army Ammunition plant explosion Wednesday night, were held in Paris Saturday at Leverett and Steele chapel. The Rev. J. D. Graham of Hooks and the Rev. O. B. Rogers here officiated, interment being made in Long Cemetery. Bearers were Kenneth Hines, Douglas Hines, David Burks, Alfred Kennedy, Bobby McMonigle and Otis Martin. Daughter of I. D. and Foy (Dunmon) Jordan, Mrs. Ashford was married June 1, 1963 at Powderly, her husband being stationed at Ft. Polk, LA.'
